Sustainability Profile
We actively promote bio-degradable moulded-fibre products made from recycled paper, offering superior features to customers and consumers as a preferable alternative to single-use plastic packaging.
We remain committed to our four business priorities; fighting climate change, investing in people, protecting water and strengthening circularity.

Our Value Chain
Hartmann operates with two interconnected value chains – one for packaging and one for Hartmann Technology (machinery and equipment). Together, they cover our full value chain.
For packaging, we handle manufacturing, procurement, sales, and warehousing. We source recycled fibres from upstream suppliers and work closely with customers such as egg and fruit producers, packing businesses, and retailers. Our packaging reaching consumers through retailers, after which it is either recycled or disposed of.
For Hartmann Technology, our activities span development, procurement, assembly, testing, and installation of machinery. We source steel, machinery parts, and electronics from upstream suppliers, and Hartmann’s own packaging business is among our biggest customers. Downstream, we deliver and install machinery, provide ongoing support, and ensure that equipment at end-of-life can be recycled—primarily as steel, which is fully recyclable.

Double materiality assessment
Hartmann’s double materiality assessment is an ongoing and repeated process following our due diligence processes. We revisit and refine our double materiality assessment, emphasizing the impact of our business activities on the environment, employees, and people around us, as well as the influence of external factors on our company.
The double materiality assessment started as Hartmann project to get a deeper understanding of our impact risk and opportunities. Lately we have become a more integrated part of the THORNICO Group and have participated in the consolidated double materiality for the group. Still Hartmann have their own priorities and continues to focus on our main priorities
